On September 29th and 30th,
Palazzo Massari Park will host the exhibition of high-quality gardening and crafts, following the success of the spring edition. This setting is the ideal cradle for green enthusiasts, in fact there was no more prestigious venue such as that of the Massari Park, which welcomes the visitor with two centuries-old Cedars of Lebanon and is a precious container of many arboreal essences. Adjacent to the park are: the Botanical Garden and the Palazzo dei Diamanti, inserted in the crossroads of the ambitious urban project of Biagio Rossetti.
Palazzo dei Conti Massari dates back to the 16th century. At the end of the 18th century it was enlarged and the backwaters were transformed into a park with Italian gardens. Subsequently, after the unification of Italy, the complex passed into the hands of the Counts Massari who arranged the transformation of the park into an English garden. Since 1936, it is owned by the Municipality of Ferrara. The Palace, now undergoing restoration, houses the Modern Art Galleries, and the Boldini Museum.
The autumn edition of Giardini Estensi offers florovivaistic excellences of farms from various parts of Italy. The themed craft stands will complement the fair with surprising new features. An appointment for the curious and tourists to discover the historic gardens of the UNESCO heritage city by bike, mingle in the babel of the stalls, rich in flowers and perfumes, the result of the work of real producers of vegetable essences.
The park entrance was used by Vittorio De Sica to represent the entrance to the garden of the Jewish family from Ferrara, protagonist of the film The Garden of the Finzi-Contini, taken from the homonymous novel by Giorgio Bassani and filmed in 1970.
