Exhibition on Gaetano Previati: Between symbolism and futurism
Ferrara from 9 February to 7 JuneOn the occasion of the centenary of the death of Gaetano Previati, great interpreter of European Symbolism, Ferrara, his hometown, pays tribute to him with an exhibition at the Estense Castle, with an important collection of paintings and works on paper by the artist
The exhibition presents more than sixty works to the public, combining oils, pastels and drawings from the Ferrarese civic collections (around thirty-five) with a significant nucleus of works loaned from public and private collections. Some important unpublished documents complete the selection.
Previati was considered an heir of the masters of the past, a leading figure in Italian divisionism, but also an example for young futurists. Precisely for this fascinating and complex position, its artistic history still has several shaded areas that deserve to be explored.
