De Nittis at Palazzo dei Diamanti
De Nittis and the revolution of the gazeDecember 1, 2019 - April 13, 2020
Palazzo dei Diamanti dedicates an exhibition to Giuseppe De Nittis (1846-1884), a leading figure, along with Boldini, of the Parisian scene of the late nineteenth century. The exhibition is the result of a relationship of collaboration and cultural exchange established between two similar civic institutions in terms of history, nature and vocation: the Giovanni Boldini Museum in Ferrara and the Pinacoteca De Nittis in Barletta.
A selection of works by the Apulian painter will be presented in Ferrara, including some of his masterpieces. The works from Barletta will be flanked by other De Nittis creations that will arrive at Palazzo dei Diamanti from important public and private collections. It will be a path that highlights, as the organizers have pointed out, De Nittis' answers to the poetics of modernity.
