Ferrara, from 30th of May 2020Palazzo dei Diamanti in Ferrara presents the exhibition An artist called BANKSY from 29 May 2020 (until 2 August 2020).
Nobody has ever seen him, nobody knows his face, there are no photos showing him: yet BANKSY conquers the world through works of unheard of ethical, evocative and thematic power. Originally from Bristol, born around 1974, framed within the generic confines of Street Art, Banksy represents an exemplary case of popularity for a living artist from the time of Andy Warhol. To date we can consider him the greatest global artist of the new millennium.
The exhibition for Palazzo dei Diamanti is an impressive exhibition event that brings together over 100 original pieces by the British artist. There are freehand paintings from the earliest period, the result of the discovery of Blek le Rat and his use of the stencil. There are the serigraphs that Banksy considers serial crafts to spread his messages. There are installation objects, the result of the encounter with artists such as Brad Downey, and other objects from Dismaland (such as the Mickey Snake sculpture with Mickey Mouse swallowed by a python). And then there are several numbered pieces, both artisanal and industrial, many certificates and others attributed, which tell us about an artist without linguistic and experimental boundaries.
